HIPAA Compliancy The Quixote client server application conforms to HIPAA software compliancy standards. In particular, Quixote meets and exceeds HIPAA regulations by fulfilling the following 3 requirements. 1) Data at Rest The data itself is encrypted. This HIPAA requirement ensures that if the database is compromised or stolen, it’s basically useless.
The Quixote client can be thought of the only key that can unlock the data thus ensuring a secure environment. 2) Data in Motion The data as it’s transmitted over the wire to each workstation is encrypted. This HIPAA requirement ensures that no one can “sniff” or “intercept” packets on the wired or wireless network environment. 3) Access and Authentication to Data Access to the Quixote system is only accessible through a secure Login and Password. HIPAA requires that there is no other way to access the data. Quixote meets this requirement.
Protection from the Viruses and Trojan Horses Many software packages allow you to install the server software on existing machines that are performing other tasks. This approach opens up the oppurtunity for trojan horses and/or viruses to inadvertently or accidentally be placed on those servers by your co-workers. We, on the other hand, deliver a dedicated Quixote Server (or Qboxx). Our installation team will install the Qbox within your network. They will ensure that it's protected behind a firewall during the installation. Privileges - The ability to limit Users of Quixote Quixote has a robust layered privilege system that allows you to assign and delegate all the major tasks from within the software to each user or group of users. Groups of users can be defined to help simplify this process. Quixote comes preconfigured with Front Desk, Insurance/Billing, Office Managers, Providers and System Administrators groups. You can modify these groups or add new ones to meet your needs.
